Paddy procurement for the Kharif season in the state will commence tomorrow, Tuesday, with the state government setting an ambitious target of 93 lakh metric tonnes for both Kharif and Rabi seasons. The increased target follows the registration of over 2 lakh more farmers this year, bringing the total to over 19.5 lakh.
Cooperative Minister Pradeep Bala Samanta announced that special arrangements, including food, drinks, and sanitation, have been made at all mandis (procurement centers).
The government is prioritizing small and genuine farmers, with the Minimum Support Price (MSP) to be transferred directly to the farmer's account within 48 hours of purchase.
Strict instructions have been issued to mill owners for timely vehicle dispatch, and the process will be monitored via satellite inspection and Aadhaar verification to ensure transparency.
