Odisha is under a relentless solar siege as a severe heatwave grips the state. With temperatures projected to hit a scorching 45°C, the Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Center has issued a grim forecast for both coastal and interior regions through April 17.

Driven by dry north-westerly winds and cloudless skies, the mercury is skyrocketing in cities like Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Sambalpur, and Jharsuguda. A high-alert "special caution" remains in effect for the Twin Cities, while interior districts—specifically Balangir and Kandhamal—face even more extreme conditions from April 16 to 19.

Stay Safe: Health Department Guidelines

The health department warns that high humidity combined with rising heat poses a significant risk of heatstroke. To stay protected:

Avoid the Sun: Stay indoors between 11 AM and 3 PM.

Hydrate: Drink plenty of water and fluids, even if you don't feel thirsty.

Dress Smart: Wear light, breathable cotton clothing.

Commuters and outdoor laborers are urged to take maximum precautions as the state navigates this dangerous peak in the summer season.
