The state government has decided to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the national song 'Vande Mataram', composed by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, with great devotion across Odisha.
On November 7, students in all educational institutions will sing Vande Mataram to mark the occasion.
The state culture department has issued a letter to the higher education department and the school and public education department, instructing them to take necessary steps.
All students, teachers, and staff have been asked to participate in the celebrations. The song was first introduced in Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay's novel Anandamath in 1875 and was later recognized as the national song by the Indian Constitution in 1950.
The celebration aims to promote patriotism and national pride among the people of Odisha.
