Puri’s golden sands have transformed into a canvas of devotion as world-renowned artist Padma Shri Sudarshan Pattnaik welcomes the National Hindu New Year. Celebrating the arrival of the month of Chaitra, Pattnaik crafted a stunning sculpture featuring a traditional pot and a flickering lamp, symbolizing auspicious beginnings.
The masterpiece, adorned with vibrant Gerbera flowers, carries the message: "Welcome National New Year." As today, March 19, marks the official start of the Hindu calendar, hundreds of tourists and devotees have flocked to the beach to witness this ephemeral tribute to a tradition thousands of years old.
Through his art, Pattnaik extends global greetings, blending cultural heritage with the natural beauty of the Odisha coastline.
The serene installation serves as a focal point for the community to exchange wishes and celebrate the "bright fortnight" that heralds a fresh start for millions.
