Severe Cyclonic Storm 'Montha' has intensified in the Bay of Bengal and is currently located 680 km from Kakinada, moving west-northwestwards at 16 km/h.
It's predicted to make landfall tomorrow evening or night between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatam, passing near Kakinada. The maximum wind speed at landfall is estimated to be 110 km/h.
Under its influence, heavy rainfall is expected across Odisha. Today, a Yellow Warning is in effect for nine districts, including Puri and Cuttack.
South Odisha faces more severe alerts: an Orange Warning today for districts like Malkangiri and Koraput, escalating to a Red Warning tomorrow for five districts including Ganjam, and continuing through the 29th for others.
Coastal areas have warnings till October 30th. Authorities are urging caution.
