A high-level review meeting is currently underway at the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) office, chaired by Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari, to assess Odisha's preparedness for Cyclone 'Montha'.

The meeting, attended by District Magistrates, the SRC, the Agriculture Secretary, and the Fire DG via video conference, focused on the cyclone's movement and government readiness.

'Montha' is moving towards the coast at 18 km/h and is currently situated 750 km from Gopalpur. While the cyclone is not expected to make a direct landfall in Odisha, its influence has already brought rain and wind, with very heavy rainfall predicted over the next two days.

In preparation, nine teams of the Fire Department have been deployed, with eight designated for Gajapati and one for Ganjam district. The Revenue Minister has directed all departments to remain fully prepared to tackle any situation arising from the storm.
