Bhubaneswar is immersed in devotion as final preparations conclude for the world-famous Ashokastami and the Rukuna Rath Yatra of Lord Lingaraj.

At the Rath Khala, craftsmen are adding the final strokes of paint to the magnificent 50-foot-tall chariot, featuring new horses, side deities, and intricate "Shuka" carvings.

Known as the "Anleuta" (Non-Turning) chariot, the Rukuna Rath holds deep mythological roots. Legend says Lord Rama worshipped Lingaraj here to atone for the sin of killing Ravana.

Unlike other chariots, this one is pulled from the rear for its return journey, symbolizing its unique "never-turn-back" tradition.

Key Highlights:

Schedule: Rituals begin at 4:00 AM; chariot pulling starts at 3:00 PM.

Cultural Extravaganza: The 15th Lingaraj Festival (March 26–31) will feature over 700 artists and 36 troupes performing traditional Odissi and folk dances.

With fresh craftsmanship and high spiritual energy, the "Ekamra Kshetra" is set to witness a spectacular display of Odisha’s rich heritage.
