A landmark agreement was signed today between the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti and the Government of Odisha to implement Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0. During the virtual ceremony, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi joined Union Minister C.R. Patil to outline a roadmap for achieving "Har Ghar Jal" by 2028.

Odisha has already made significant strides, providing 70 liters of drinking water per person daily, with the state funding 40% of the mission's costs.

The new phase emphasizes sustainability through the Sujlam Bharat platform and the "Jal Atar Diwas" public engagement initiative.

Beyond pipes, the movement has completed over 2.21 lakh water conservation structures and planted 2 crore trees. Chief Minister Majhi highlighted that the mission has revolutionized the lives of rural women, eliminating the need to travel long distances for water.

With digital tools like the Vasudha Helpline, the state aims to ensure transparent, citizen-centric water governance across all 30 districts.
