A late-night altercation turned violent in the Patiya Station Road area when a hotel assistant allegedly slashed the throat of his head chef.

The victim, identified as Ashish Mohanty, was brutally attacked by his colleague, K. Lav Rao, within the hotel premises under the jurisdiction of the Chandrashekharpur police.


Mohanty was rushed to Capital Hospital in critical condition, but as his health deteriorated, he was shifted to a private medical facility for specialized care. He remains in critical condition.


Upon receiving the report, Chandrashekharpur police arrived at the scene and detained Rao for questioning. While the weapon has been secured, the specific motive behind the attack remains unclear.

Authorities are currently interrogating the assistant to determine if the incident was sparked by a professional dispute or a personal grudge. Investigation into the matter is ongoing.
