Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the House today that 3,176 police posts are currently vacant across Odisha’s 706 police stations.

Out of a total sanctioned strength of 14,528, nearly 22% of positions remain unfilled, impacting the state’s law enforcement capacity.

Responding to an inquiry by MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati, the Chief Minister acknowledged the security challenges posed by these shortages but assured that a robust recruitment drive is underway.

The government is actively utilizing new appointments, promotions, and strategic transfers to bridge the gap.

Emphasizing that a well-staffed force is critical for maintaining law and order and ensuring public safety, Majhi reiterated the state's commitment to fortifying its grassroots policing.

This move aims to alleviate the burden on existing officers while strengthening the overall security infrastructure across Odisha.
