In a major narcotics bust, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized a massive consignment of marijuana at the Biju Patnaik International Airport.
The contraband, estimated to be worth ₹6 crore in the international market, was intercepted during a high-stakes smuggling attempt from Bangkok to Bhubaneswar.
Customs officials apprehended two passengers who were allegedly attempting to sneak the illegal haul through the terminal. Acting on specific intelligence, authorities caught the duo in their tracks before the shipment could reach the local streets.
Both suspects have been detained and are currently undergoing intensive interrogation to uncover the wider smuggling network and the masterminds behind this international transit route.
This seizure marks a significant victory for airport security and anti-narcotics agencies in the state.
