The Indian Railways has taken strict action against IRCTC and a catering vendor after a passenger found worms in curd served on the Patna-Tatanagar Vande Bharat Express.
The ministry imposed a fine of ₹10 lakh on IRCTC and ₹50 lakh on the vendor, and terminated the catering contract.
The incident occurred on March 15, when a passenger shared a viral video showing worms in the curd. The railways took immediate action, emphasizing that passenger safety and quality remain top priorities.
This incident highlights the railways' zero-tolerance approach to food safety lapses on premium trains.
