Controversy has once again hit KIT University after the body of a first-year Computer Science student, Rahul Yadav (from Chhattisgarh), was recovered from a hostel room on campus late last night.
Hostel authorities informed Infocity Police after other students found Rahul hanging from the fan. ACP Sonal Singh Parmar confirmed the body was seized and placed in the morgue, and his family has been notified and is en route to Odisha. Police suspect suicide, have sealed the room, and registered a case of unnatural death for preliminary investigation.
This incident marks the third student death at KIT within the past year. Earlier this year, two Nepali students tragically lost their lives (on February 16 and May 1). Following those incidents, the university's controversial decision to expel all Nepali students led to international condemnation and intervention by the National Human Rights Commission.
