Expressing concern over public health, the State Government's Women and Child Development Department is implementing a drive to promote healthy eating habits and reduce consumption of excessive fats.

In a letter to all District Collectors, the department has mandated the installation of "Oil Boards" in various public forums, including Anganwadi centers, CCI, One Stop Centers, and Sakhi Bharadwaj. These boards must clearly display the amount of fat and oil content in common oily foods like bara, pakoda, and singda (samosas).

The initiative aims to raise awareness among children, adolescents, and caregivers, thereby combating obesity and the rise of non-communicable diseases.

Departments have been directed to take immediate steps for the installation of these boards, using contingency funds to print and display health-promoting messages to reinforce behavioral change.
