Odisha Vigilance has arrested Rakshi Meher, a District Resource Person (DRP) in Bargarh, for demanding a bribe under the PMFME scheme. Meher allegedly demanded ₹30,000 from a beneficiary to process a 35% subsidy on a ₹8.64 lakh bakery unit loan.

In a brazen move, the official sent an SMS to the beneficiary, instructing him to deposit the bribe directly into his bank account. Refusing to comply, the victim alerted the Vigilance department, which set a trap and caught Meher red-handed.

Following the arrest, the anti-corruption wing launched simultaneous raids at three locations linked to the accused. A case has been registered, and a thorough investigation is underway to uncover further irregularities.

This crackdown serves as a stern warning against officials exploiting central welfare schemes for personal gain.
