Health officials from the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) intercepted seven vehicles on Cuttack Link Road, seizing roughly 7,000 kg of adulterated (vejal) cheese valued at Rs 17.5 lakh. The stock was heading toward local hotels, restaurants, and markets to meet surging demand during the holy month of Shravan.
On-Spot Testing: Iodine solution testing revealed that only 30 kg was fit for consumption. The rest turned black, confirming heavy adulteration.
Action Taken: The entire contaminated stock was destroyed immediately, and samples were dispatched to the State Food Laboratory for detailed chemical analysis.
Authorities continue to crack down on food safety violations as festive and seasonal demands rise across the region.
