Odisha Vigilance intercepted and arrested Lathikta Tehsildar Muralidhar Urmal, seizing Rs 5 lakh in unaccounted cash along with his rented government Scorpio vehicle.
The Interception: Urmal was intercepted by vigilance officers near Rajbasa Chowk while traveling from his Lathikta office toward Rourkela.
The Seizure: When questioned about the heavy cash reserve, the Tehsildar failed to provide a satisfactory explanation or valid source for the funds.
Current Status: Following the seizure, vigilance teams launched simultaneous searches across three locations, including his office and residence, to uncover disproportionate assets.
