The Odisha government has successfully secured an extension for the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) Kharif registration deadline, now set for August 31, 2026.
Coverage: Protection against natural calamities, floods, drought, and excess rainfall.
Cost: Free insurance for up to 5 acres; a nominal Rs 1 fee applies for bank verification.
Eligible Crops: Paddy, maize, almond, ragi, cotton, arhar, ginger, and turmeric.
District Rules: Borrower-only registration applies in Ganjam, Kalahandi, Puri, Subarnapur, Bargarh, Bhadrak, Gajapati, Jajpur, and Jagatsinghpur. All farmers (borrowers, non-borrowers, and sharecroppers) are eligible in remaining districts.
Where to Apply:
Borrowers: PACS/LAMPCS and bank branches.
Non-borrowers: CSCs, banks, and authorized insurance agents.
Sharecroppers: Requires a landowner consent letter.
Eligible farmers are strongly encouraged to complete their registration through local cooperative institutions or service centers before the August 31 deadline.
