Following widespread heavy rainfall and rising river levels, the Odisha government has aggressively scaled up relief, rescue, and rehabilitation efforts across the worst-hit northern districts, including Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Kendrapara, and Sundargarh.

According to the State Emergency Management Center (SEOC), over 1.3 million people across thousands of villages have been impacted. To ensure safety, authorities have evacuated nearly half a million citizens to over 880 relief camps equipped with essential provisions, including clean drinking water, electricity, sanitation, and cooked meals distributed through free-kitchen centers.

A multi-agency task force comprising 126 teams—including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), Fire Services, and local police—has been deployed for round-the-clock rescue operations. Specialized medical and veterinary teams are actively operating in the field to treat affected individuals, support pregnant women, and provide fodder for livestock.
