The Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched a massive multi-city operation across Ganjam district on Friday, targeting senior BJD leader and contractor Hrishikesh Padhi alongside several prominent businessmen.
Simultaneous raids were conducted at 20 locations, including Padhi’s residence, petrol pump, and showroom in Shergarh, as well as his son’s house in Berhampur. The crackdown extended to liquor traders, sand contractors, and various entrepreneurs in Asika, Hinjili, and Buguda.
Supported by armed security forces, ED teams are investigating suspected financial irregularities and money laundering. While the agency has not released an official statement, the scale of the operation—spanning residential and commercial hubs like Gandhinagar and Lanjipali—has sent shockwaves through the region's political and business circles.
Authorities remain on high alert to prevent any potential unrest during the ongoing searches.
