The Shree Jagannath Temple Management Committee, led by Gajapati Maharaj, has finalized the schedule for the long-awaited census of the temple’s treasures. Starting March 25th at the auspicious time of 12:12 PM, the phased inventory of gems and jewelry will be conducted under strict government guidelines.
Key Highlights of the Process:
Expert Team: The census will include authorized sevayats, temple officials, professional jewelers, and representatives from the RBI.
Verification: Current findings will be cross-referenced with the 1978 inventory list, accounting for additions made in 1982 and 1985.
Security & Transparency: The entire process will be videographed. Treasury keys will be checked out and returned daily to ensure maximum security.
Devotee Impact: Public darshan will remain uninterrupted, though visitors will view the Lord from outside during the 45-minute daily sessions.
The exercise will pause on holidays and major ritual days to maintain the temple's traditional sanctity.
