Key Note: Incessant rainfall and overflowing rivers have submerged parts of Nabarangpur city and thousands of hectares of farmland, prompting public outrage.

Heavy overnight downpours have triggered severe waterlogging across Nabarangpur city, severely disrupting daily life. The situation peaked on NH-26 near Hotel Manisha, where floodwaters surged two feet high, grinding Nabarangpur-Jeypore traffic to a halt and forcing commuters to wade through water. Thousands of hectares of district farmland are also submerged, threatening crop yields.

Furious residents blamed poor pre-monsoon desiltting of main drains for the recurring crisis, threatening protests if authorities fail to deliver a permanent fix.

Meanwhile, Municipal Chairman Kunu Nayak inspected the worst-hit zones. He attributed the slow drainage to 48 hours of continuous rain, rising levels in the Indravati and Phuljhodi rivers, and heavy runoff from the Hilidangari hills, while assuring residents that immediate relief measures are underway.
