Odisha's push for automated Public Distribution System (PDS) services continues as the state prepares to launch Rice ATMs in Dhenkanal and Keonjhar on August 31.
Announced by Supplies Minister Krishna Chandra Patra, the new automated kiosks will be installed near the Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) in both districts. Following successful implementations in Bhubaneswar—where India’s first Rice ATM debuted in Mancheswar—and Jharsuguda, the government aims to roll out this 24/7 facility across all districts.
How It Works
Seamless Access: Eligible ration card holders simply input their card number and authenticate via fingerprint scanner.
Round-the-Clock Convenience: Operating 24 hours a day, the automated machines dispense exact monthly quotas of rice or wheat.
Alternative Option: Designed to assist beneficiaries who struggle to visit traditional fair-price dealers during standard operating hours, ensuring they receive their entitlements.
