The Gajapati District Election Officer has taken a stand against administrative apathy by suspending a Booth Level Officer (BLO) for gross negligence.
Ramanuj Das, an assistant teacher assigned to Polling Station No. 110 in Kashinagar block, was penalized for failing to carry out the critical intensive revision of voter lists.
According to the official order, Das repeatedly neglected his legal responsibilities under the Representation of the People Act. Investigations revealed he was absent from duty without valid reasoning and failed to comply with statutory orders.
Viewing this as a serious breach of election protocol, District Collector and Election Officer Akshay Sunil Agarwal issued the immediate suspension.
During this period, Das is prohibited from leaving the headquarters without prior permission, though he will receive a subsistence allowance as per government rules.
This decisive action serves as a stern warning to all personnel: any lapse or disregard for election-related duties will meet with zero tolerance to ensure the integrity of the democratic process.
