A potentially fatal disaster was narrowly avoided in Bhadrak district when a truck belonging to the “Shri Ganesh Opera” yatra party overturned on Saturday.
The vehicle was en route from Dhamnagar to Talasdumka for a scheduled three-day performance when it lost control directly in front of the Dhamnagar SDPO office.
At the time of the crash, four people, including the driver, were inside the vehicle. In a stroke of immense luck, the truck landed on a patch of soft sand, allowing all occupants to escape with their lives.
Preliminary reports suggest that ongoing road repair work between Dhamnagar Chowk and the Bazaar may have contributed to the driver losing control.
The accident caused significant traffic congestion as stage equipment, steel gates, and performance gear spilled across the road. Dhamnagar police arrived promptly at the scene to manage the wreckage and restore the flow of vehicles.
An investigation is currently underway to determine the exact cause of the mishap.
