Odisha is bracing for a week of volatile weather as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a 'Yellow Alert' for thunderstorms and lightning across the state.

Unstable conditions are expected to persist for the next five days, bringing a mix of rain, high-speed winds, and stifling humidity.

Through April 5, districts including Ganjam, Gajapati, and Rayagada are likely to face gusty winds reaching 40 to 50 kmph.

Meanwhile, coastal belts like Balasore and Jagatsinghpur will experience a sharp rise in humidity. As the system moves, central and northern regions, including Cuttack, Khordha, and Mayurbhanj, will see intensified thundershowers.

By the fourth and fifth days, the focus shifts back to southern and coastal Odisha, where winds could again peak at 50 kmph.

The IMD has urged the public to exercise extreme caution: avoid open fields during lightning, stay away from tall trees, and postpone unnecessary travel.

This stretch of turbulent weather serves as a stern reminder to stay weather-aware as the pre-monsoon season heats up.
