A narrow escape was reported late last night near Lekhnapur Bajra in Cuttack district after a car veered off the road and overturned into the Pattamundai Canal. The vehicle was en route from Lalitgiri to Bhubaneswar when dense fog severely impaired visibility, causing the driver to lose control.
Quick-thinking locals rushed to the scene upon hearing the crash and successfully rescued the driver. Fortunately, the driver sustained only minor injuries despite the vehicle being submerged in the canal.
Following the incident, Japakud Fandi officer Bhishma Charan Pradhan arrived at the spot to oversee the situation. Authorities have launched an investigation into the mishap and are using this opportunity to urge commuters to exercise extreme caution while driving in low-visibility winter conditions.
