Odisha cadre’s veteran 1996-batch IAS officer, Veer Vikram Yadav, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
Currently serving on central deputation, Yadav has been a key figure in national administration as the Additional Secretary for Forest, Environment, and Climate Change, while also heading the Central Pollution Control Board.
A native of Rajasthan, Yadav boasts an illustrious career in Odisha. Before moving to the Centre in April 2025, he served as the Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple (SJTA) and held pivotal roles as Secretary of the Works Department and Principal Secretary of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare.
His transition from managing environmental regulations and religious heritage to overseeing India’s aviation safety marks a significant shift in his administrative journey.
This appointment underscores his reputation for handling complex, high-stakes portfolios across diverse sectors of governance.
