Political tensions have surged after Narla MLA Manorma Mohanty filed a formal complaint against the Kesinga SDPO and two officers for allegedly barging into her official Bhubaneswar residence.
The MLA claims police forcibly broke doors and windows while she was away, leaving her daughter and assistant feeling "uncomfortable" and violated.
The incident occurred during the Assembly session, following death threat allegations against the MLA’s husband, Durga Prasad Mohanty, involving a local Tehsildar. While the domestic helper alleged that officers entered without permission while they were dressing, Kalahandi SP has refuted all charges of misconduct.
According to the SP, the team visited the residence solely to serve a legal notice, not to conduct a search or use force.
As the MLA demands accountability for the breach of her quarters, the standoff between the legislator and the police department intensifies, raising questions about protocol and parliamentary privilege.
