A severe fuel shortage has triggered panic in Nabarangpur city, with four out of six petrol pumps forced to shut down. The remaining two stations are overwhelmed by massive crowds, forcing owners to implement strict rationing: two-wheelers are limited to ₹200 and four-wheelers to ₹1000 worth of fuel.
While the district holds an ample reserve of 3 lakh liters of petrol and 4 lakh liters of diesel, the crisis is localized to the city due to depot supply bottlenecks. Nabarangpur city requires 30,000 liters of petrol and 50,000 liters of diesel daily, but supply has failed to keep pace with this demand.
The District Supply Department has assured frustrated residents that the situation is being monitored and that fresh stocks are expected to arrive by this evening. For now, motorists face long queues and limited tanks as they wait for the taps to turn back on.
