The State Anti-Corruption Directorate has launched a major crackdown at Kodala Hospital in Ganjam, detaining five employees in a massive embezzlement scandal.

The suspects are accused of misappropriating ₹2.5 crore by allegedly forging an officer’s digital signature to siphon funds into various accounts.

The district health department triggered the probe after detecting financial discrepancies, leading the CDMO to suspend seven staff members already.

Following an initial round of questioning at the CDMO office, the Vigilance team moved the suspects to an undisclosed location for intensive interrogation.

Investigators believe the fraud involved using the names of other employees to mask the theft. While the Vigilance department has yet to release a formal statement, the sheer scale of the digital forgery has sent shockwaves through the health department.

The crackdown marks a significant win for the state’s transparency initiative against institutional corruption.
