A massive congregation of devotees has gathered in Puri today to witness Lord Jagannath in the rare 'Rajarajeshwar' or 'Suna Besha' (Golden Attire) on the auspicious occasion of Kartik Purnima.

Following the opening of the temple doors, rituals like Mangalaalati and Mailam were performed before the deities were adorned. The Chaturdhamurti (four deities) are glittering with elaborate golden ornaments, including Harida Mali, Sripayar, Kirita (crown), and Bagha Nakha Mali. Devotees believe that sighting the Lord in this royal form absolves them of past sins and brings prosperity.

In anticipation of the huge crowd, the police administration has deployed over 45 Platoons of force across Puri city and tourist spots to manage the flow and maintain peace. Strict traffic management is in effect; a no-vehicle zone is established from Digbareni Chack to Yatrika Parking. Devotees are directed to enter the Shrimandir only through the Singh Gate.
