A special, one-day session of the Assembly begins today at 11:00 am to discuss the women's protection bill recently introduced by the Central Government. The session will feature a detailed discussion on the vital contribution of women to Indian democracy.

To ensure safety during the proceedings, a stringent three-tier security perimeter has been established around the Assembly, with 70 police platoons deployed.

The arrangements include the deployment of a Special Task Unit, Dog Squad, Bomb Squad, and a Fire Department team.

Additionally, Section 144 has been imposed at Lower PMG to prevent potential agitations and protests. Police Commissioner S. Debdutt Singh visited the premises today to personally review the security arrangements.

It is worth noting that the Central Government had previously introduced the Women's Protection and Delimitation Bill, but it failed to pass after failing to secure the required majority.
