Odisha is taking a major leap toward green mobility by proposing 190 EV charging stations across six major cities: Angul, Balasore, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Kalinganagar, and Puri. The initiative operates under the expansive PM E-DRIVE scheme, which has a total outlay of Rs 10,900 crore.
The proposal was finalized during a joint meeting involving the Central Heavy Industries Department, the State Transport Authority, and BHEL.
While the locations will be selected jointly by BHEL and the transport authority, priority will be given to national highways and regional hubs. Once established, the State Transport Authority will either manage the stations directly or assign operations to nodal operators.
This infrastructure initiative aims to significantly reduce environmental pollution and encourage the adoption of eco-friendly transportation across the state.
