A relentless cold wave has plunged the entire state into sub‑zero temperatures, with the capital Bhubaneswar recording its first below‑zero night in years.
Normal life is disrupted as eight cities report lows under 10 °C and the freeze has persisted for ten consecutive days. The regional meteorological centre forecasts no relief in minimum temperatures through next week and warns of light to moderate fog in Sundergarh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Koraput, with dense fog in Bonai (Sundergarh) reducing visibility to 10 km and hampering traffic.
