Odisha is bracing for heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next few days due to an anticipated low-pressure area forming over the northwest Bay of Bengal, triggered by an active cyclonic circulation.
The Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Department has issued a high alert from August 12 to 15, warning of intensified downpours particularly across northern and coastal districts. Strong surface winds reaching 35 to 45 kmph, with gusts up to 55 kmph, are expected along the Odisha coast until August 14.
Given the turbulent sea conditions, the Fisheries Department and Met Centre have strictly prohibited fishermen from venturing into the sea during this period. Authorities advise residents and farmers in vulnerable areas to stay updated on weather advisories as continuous rains approach the state.
