Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Ravi Narayan Naik spearheaded a high-level review meeting in Mayurbhanj on Thursday to assess post-flood management. Joined by Environment Minister Ganesh Ramsingh, local MLAs, and senior officials, the delegation evaluated infrastructural and agricultural damages.
Addressing the media, Minister Naik noted that while the government successfully managed the recent floods—triggered by overflow from the Similipal Sanctuary—long-term measures are underway. Plans include constructing high-level bridges across low-lying areas in 15 vulnerable districts.
Highlighting housing support, Naik criticized the previous administration for survey gaps, announcing that the current government aims to reach 37 lakh beneficiaries via the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Families who lost homes in the floods will receive immediate priority. A comprehensive damage assessment report will soon be submitted to the state government.
