Odisha is witnessing incessant rain due to a low-pressure system, triggering artificial flooding in several places from the coast to interior regions.
Bhubaneswar recorded the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours at 107.9 mm. Other heavy spells: Jajpur 106.8 mm, Pattamundai in Kendrapara 100.0 mm, Mahanga in Cuttack 92.0 mm, Bhadrak 80.0 mm, Balasore 74.8 mm, and Jagatsinghpur 72.0 mm.
The IMD has issued an Orange Alert for Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj today, with 12 cm to 20 cm rain expected. A Yellow Alert is in place for the remaining 28 districts. Wind speeds of 30-40 kmph with lightning are likely.
For tomorrow, 20 districts are under a Yellow Alert with rainfall forecast between 7 cm to 11 cm.
Authorities have urged people in low-lying areas to stay alert as waterlogging and flooding risks rise.
