State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) R.S. Gopalan clarified that voters receiving notices under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive are not required to appear in person for hearings.
Around 58.36 lakh voters face notices—46 lakh due to minor logical errors and 12 lakh whose current data does not match the 2002 baseline voter list. Citizens can resolve discrepancies by submitting relevant documents to Booth Level Officers (BLOs) or uploading them directly on voters.eci.gov.in.
To protect vulnerable groups—including senior citizens, PwDs, the ill, and remote residents—BLOs will collect necessary documents directly from their homes. EROs will then verify eligibility based on these submissions.
The timeline for claims and objections spans July 5 to August 4, with notice resolutions closing on September 2. The final electoral roll will be published on September 6, 2026. The operation is managed by 147 EROs, 1,394 AEROs, and 45,250 BLOs statewide.
