To manage the massive influx of pilgrims for Rath Yatra 2026, the Puri district administration has rolled out a comprehensive traffic and parking blueprint, converting Badadanda into a strict No-Vehicle Zone from midnight of July 16 to midnight of July 17.
Major blockades include stretches from Jhadeshwari Chowk, Jail Road, and Mochisahi Chowk leading towards the Shrimandir.
Smart Parking Infrastructure
Parking capacity has expanded significantly to 30 dedicated zones, accommodating over 10,000 vehicles:
4-Wheelers: 22 zones (18 general, 4 pass-holder) catering to 7,730 vehicles.
2-Wheelers: 4 zones (Matitota 1 & 2, Old Jagannath Ballav Math, Blue-Flag) for 1,500 bikes.
Buses: 4 zones (Malatipatpur, Talabania, Swaminarayan Mandir, Samanga) for 750 buses.
Tech-Driven Traffic Control
For seamless movement, the police are tracking vehicular flow using manual counting combined with AI technology. The highway features 1,645 signboards and dynamic LED display boards offering real-time congestion updates. Additionally, 3 surveillance drones and 224 CCTV cameras will closely monitor traffic from the skies and ground.
