The Sri Jagannath Temple administration has announced that general darshan will be suspended today, Wednesday (Chaitra Krishna Chaturdashi), for the sacred Banaka Lagi ritual.
Public viewing will be closed for four hours, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, following the second Bhogamandap Bhog.
Known as the "Holy Forest Policy," this ancient, confidential service involves the Datta Mahapatra servitors painstakingly restoring the deities' facial features.
Using strictly natural ingredients—including musk, haritala, hingula, and priyangu—the servitors apply vibrant organic colors in a process kept hidden from the public eye.
To ensure the sanctity of this esoteric tradition, the Jai Vijay Dwar will remain closed throughout the ceremony.
Devotees are advised to plan their visit accordingly, as the temple doors will reopen for darshan only after the completion of these divine "makeover" rituals at 10:00 PM.
