Tension gripped the Old Cuttack area of Boudh district following the sudden death of 23-year-old Subrata Nayak, allegedly due to medical negligence. According to family members, Subrata visited the Old Cuttack Community Health Center this morning seeking treatment for a minor skin allergy (itching).
The situation turned fatal after a nurse administered a prescribed injection. Subrata reportedly collapsed and lost consciousness immediately. Although he was rushed to the Boudh District Headquarters Hospital, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
In a fit of rage, grieving relatives and villagers have blocked NH-57 (Khordha-Balangir), burning tires and surrounding the hospital premises. The blockade has caused a massive traffic gridlock, with protesters demanding accountability for what they label a "wrong injection."
Local police have arrived at the scene to pacify the crowd and maintain order. While an investigation is underway, officials stated that the precise cause of death will only be confirmed following a formal autopsy report.
