A string of tragic accidents across Odisha claimed seven lives this Monday. In Karanjia (Mayurbhanj), four people perished in two separate collisions. A head-on crash between a Scorpio and a bike near Kalikapur forest killed a couple on the spot, while a collision between a private bus and a Brezza near Kaddiha forest claimed the lives of three mining traders from Jajpur and Bhuban.
Meanwhile, in Kalahandi, an uncle-nephew duo, Mukesh Nag and Mahendra Naik, were killed at Budipadar Chack after an unidentified pickup van rammed their motorcycle and fled the scene.
While several others remain in critical condition at Karanjia and Keonjhar hospitals, the bus passengers involved in the Mayurbhanj crash narrowly escaped major injury. Police have seized the involved vehicles and launched a manhunt for the absconding pickup driver.
