The shadow of the "Red Army" has returned to the Saranda forest area following the brutal murder of a young man in Goilkera, West Singhbhum. The victim, Ramesh Champia, was a former Maoist associate who had renounced violence to join the mainstream after a previous prison sentence.
The tragedy unfolded when four insurgents forcibly took Ramesh from his home, ignoring his wife's pleas for safety. His body was later recovered, showing signs of a fatal beating.
Authorities believe the Maoists executed Ramesh on the unfounded suspicion of being a police informer.
The Goilkera Police have seized the body and launched an investigation into the massacre.
This targeted killing has reignited a sense of terror among villagers in the Jharkhand-Odisha border region, proving that despite periods of silence, insurgent activity remains a lethal threat to those attempting to build a peaceful life.
