A somber atmosphere has gripped the Krishnaprasad area of Puri district following the tragic drowning of a local youth on Monday morning. The deceased, identified as Badal Pahan, was the son of Golakh Pahan from the Badjhada panchayat.
The incident occurred when Badal went to a village pond—locally used for washing livestock—with his donkey. When he failed to return home after several hours, his worried family and fellow villagers launched a search, eventually fearing the worst as they neared the water's edge.
Upon receiving the alert, local police and the fire department rushed to the scene to initiate a rescue operation. After an extensive search, fire officials recovered Badal’s body from the depths of the pond.
While the circumstances suggest a drowning accident, the police have surprisingly registered a case of murder to ensure a thorough investigation into any potential foul play. As the authorities await post-mortem results, the village remains in a state of deep mourning over the sudden loss of a young life.
