A grim silence has descended upon Mumbai’s Pydhonie area after four members of the Dokadia family died following a suspected case of food poisoning. The deceased have been identified as Abdullah Dokadia (40), his wife Nasreen (35), and their daughters Ayesha (16) and Zainab (13).
The family’s routine dinner turned fatal on Monday night. According to police reports, the family consumed biryani, followed by watermelon.
Shortly after, their health deteriorated rapidly. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, all four family members succumbed during treatment.
Investigators are currently grappling with a lethal puzzle: was the toxicity present in the biryani, the watermelon, or was it a fatal chemical reaction caused by consuming the two together?
The Mumbai Police have registered a case of accidental death. While food samples and remnants of the watermelon have been seized for forensic analysis, the autopsy was inconclusive.
