Odisha’s soil has once again revealed its hidden riches, sparking nationwide excitement. In a recent Assembly session, Mines Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena confirmed the discovery of precious minerals, including diamonds, rubies, and gold, across several districts.
Key findings from the preliminary surveys include:
Diamonds: Identified in the Kalmidad area of Nuapada; economic valuation is currently underway.
Rubies: Reported in the Hinjilibahal-Jilingibar region of Kalahandi.
Gold & Copper: Significant deposits found in Deogarh’s Remal area, as well as Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar.
Banspal Block: Gold-bearing rocks identified in the Gopur-Jaladihi zone.
While no open mines have been established yet, these discoveries reinforce Odisha’s dominant position on India's mineral map.
Beyond the sparkle of gems, these resources promise a surge in industrial development and employment opportunities, potentially transforming the state’s economic landscape. This "hidden wealth" brings renewed hope of turning Odisha’s natural potential into a golden reality.
