A Very Severe Cyclonic Storm named Arnab struck the Andhra Pradesh coastline late Tuesday night, bringing wind speeds of 115–125 kmph and gusts up to 140 kmph.
The landfall process began at 2:00 AM near Kakinada and spanned 6.5 hours, completing by 8:30 AM. During this time, the cyclone's center hovered stationary over the west-central Bay of Bengal, positioned 30 km from Narsapur, 45 km from Yanam, 70 km from Kakinada, and 90 km from Machilipatnam.
After entirely crossing the coast, Arnab weakened into a Severe Cyclonic Storm, with sustained winds of 110–120 kmph and gusts reaching 135 kmph. The storm has since moved inland, triggering heavy downpours and strong winds across Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. Authorities remain on high alert as relief and monitoring operations continue.
