Berhampur SP Shravan Vivek M. is facing a major hurdle after the High Court ordered his personal appearance on the 11th at 10:30 am in a contempt of court case.
The controversy arose after the SP held a press conference regarding the murder of senior lawyer Pitavas Panda and publicly stated that the primary motive was related to an election case against local MLA K. Anil Kumar. This statement was made despite the election case being sub-judice.
The High Court had previously sought an explanation from the SP, asking why his media statement should not be treated as contempt. The court has now directed the SP to submit his reply through an affidavit by the 10th.
The decision on whether to proceed with the contempt case will be made after the SP’s submission and appearance.
