A 23-year-old woman from Odisha’s Rayagada district, Srishti, who was interning in Lalpur, has been brutally murdered, police confirmed today. The accused, identified as Amit Kumar, the house owner's son, has been arrested after confessing to the crime.
Srishti's family, failing to reach her by phone since Tuesday, traveled to Lalpur and filed a missing person report on Wednesday. CCTV footage led police to question Amit Kumar.
The accused confessed to killing Srishti, tying a stone to her body, and dumping it into the local Bador River.
